Digital & Photography

Heroes and Outlaws logo finish 2

Mixed media piece produced by creating half a drawing in black ink, scanning it into photoshop, duplicating the image and flipping one side so you get a mirror image. Colours and shading were added using photoshop. Its a very quick and simple process that has some very nice results.

Digital can be fun. Making your own birthday cards and the like will become second nature after a few weeks of owning programmes like Photoshop. But, and its a big but, the programmes are very expensive. The prices for the top packages like Photoshop CS and Corel Paint are up in the high hundreds. If you are just starting out I would highly reccomend Photoshop Elements. You can pick this up for under one hundred pounds. It does not have as many features as the top packages but it has all the essential tools for basic digital work. I have been using it for years and am only now finding that I need to upgrade.

Fun can be had with digital manipulation. The image on the right was produced for a birthday card. The photo background is an image taken by myself of the sky up on top of the Black Mountain in Wales. The dragon rider was produced using biro on white paper, then scanned into photoshop...a bit of cutting, pasting & blurring and hey presto a lovely fantasy image in around thirty minutes.
